A descent of some of the first settlers of Texas, Al was born and has lived in the central Texas area most of his life.  His home and studio are located about three mile east of Belton, Texas

Al received a degree in Commercial Art from Texas Tech.  He worked at the Tech Museum where he prepared dioramas depicting Indian and other early life on the South Plains.  He worked in newspaper advertising  preparing and illustrating ads,  He operated Moore Advertising Agency producing ads and illustrations for national magazines.  He worked at Fort Hood, TX for 25 years as chief Illustrator for the Training Aids Center.  He retired in 1982 and since that time has devoted full time to painting, teaching workshop and classes, doing demonstrations for art groups, and traveling around the country looking for places to paint.

There always seems to be something new to learn in this process called painting.  To inspire and prod that process along Al has attended numerous workshops given by nationally acclaimed artists.  Some of these include: Albert Handell- oil and pastels, John Carter - watercolor,  nine Cowboy of America artists on a ranch in Montana - oils, and Bob Pummel CAA workshop - oils.  About two times yearly since about 1985 Al has painted with Bob Wygant who has been an important factor in inspiring him to paint in acrylics and strive for a higher level of professionalism in his art.

Al's paintings have numerous awards and prizes in shows.  He has had a number of one man shows and his work can be found in private and corporate collections in the U. S. and abroad.
