Glenn
Lyles was born and raised on a family farm in Hale Country. While growing up
with his brothers and sisters, on his parent's farm, he developed a love for
farming and ranching in the Texas Panhandle and High Plains and the people
and wildlife that inhabit the region.
Glenn attended West Texas State
University where he received a B.S. in Animal Science. One of his activities
at WT was an active of the Livestock Judging Team. Upon graduation he
returned to Hale Center and farmed with his father and brother for two
decades.
Always interested in drawing and painting, Glenn Began to cultivate the
interest. Glenn studied under local artists Ruth Barnett and Jack Sorenson.
As his talent grew, he decided to pursue painting full time.
Fifteen years later Glenn has become an accomplished painter with works
in galleries in Texas and New Mexico. He served as curator for the "Dirk
West Retrospective Exhibit" in 2005, at Lubbock Arts Festival. Annually he
is a guest lecturer at Texas A&M University, teaches workshops in Texas and
Kansas, and was recently contacted to submit painting for the cover of
Cattleman's Magazine.
Glenn, along with other local artists, painted the Murals that adorn
downtown Hale Center, Texas. He exhibited his artwork in office of the Texas
Speaker of the House of Pete Laney and had a painting featured in the
television show "Tuckerville".
You may have seen his paintings on the campus of West Texas A&M, at the
Annual Texas Cattle Feeders Convention, the O.S. Ranch Reunion Roping and
Art Show, the National Cowboy Symposium in Lubbock, the Western Heritage
Classic in Abilene and, for the second year, at West Texas A&M University Ag
