C. S. "Steve" Talley
| C. S. Talley
developed an art interest not long after graduating with a degree in astronomy from the
University of Texas at Austin in 1978. Ten years later, his career path finally allowed
him to take private painting lessons from Sandra Harris, a Western portrait artist living
near Talleys home in Colorado. A career change subsequently caused a hiatus in
Talleys art training. He moved back to his home of Texas and a few years later began
painting with Guy Morrow in Corpus Christi. As art became more and more a priority, he
sought workshops with other artists and has worked with John Budicin, Ron Rencher, Matt
Smith, Tim Lawson, Foster Caddell, and Guido Frick. Talley now lives and paints in Fredericksburg,
Texas. In 2009, he won Judge's Choice 1st
Place in the Contemporary Masters Invitational Show and in 2007, he won
People's Choice Best of Show in Gillespie Country Art Guild's "Faces and
Places" juried show. He won Judge's 3rd Place award at the 2006 Gillespie
Country Art Guild's "Faces and Places" juried show. In 2005, he won the
Judges' Choice 2nd Place Award at the Contemporary Masters Invitational Show
in Fredericksburg, Texas. He participates annually in the Nomadas del Arte
Show. His works are in private collections in the United States,
Canada, and Germany. He is an associate member of the Oil Painters of
America and is the former President of Die Kunstler von Fredericksburg, an
art organization in the Texas Hill Country. |
