Fredericksburg Art Gallery is located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. The picturesque Main Street setting is easily accessible to the many art lovers who visit the gallery daily. Fredericksburg, Texas was named in 2004 among the “Top Five – Western Art Towns” by Southwest Art Magazine. In February 2010, Fine Art Connoisseur magazine named Fredericksburg "The Little Jewel of Art in Central Texas."

The gallery, now in its fourteenth year of operation at 314 East Main Street in Fredericksburg, is owned and operated by Jim and Donna Strickland. Jim and Donna have turned the space that was once a patio for the adjacent restaurant, into a magical and active haven for art lovers everywhere. Tourists seem to be entranced by the original works of art that line the walls and they are tickled by the heart-warming books that are popular among loving grandparents and Christian friends.

Donna celebrates 36  years in the art business. She started her first little gallery in Odessa in 1976 called Donnas’ Art Gallery & Gifts with her mom and dad, Joye and Gary Porter. Her parents owned another business at the time but then came to work at the gallery full time a few years later and changed the name to Frontier Galleries. Donna moved to the Hill Country in 1983 to open Holland Art Gallery in Kerrville and then opened the Fredericksburg gallery in 1986. In the 2010 March issue of American Art Collector magazine, Donna was honored to be interviewed for the special “Calling Coast to Coast” section. They asked eight leading gallery owners from coast to coast to tell them what’s hot in their gallery and identify the trends in their city.

The Gallery Has Two Annual Invitational Art Shows, A One-Man Show and participates in the popular First Friday Art Walk Fredericksburg!

The "Contemporary Masters Invitational" Art Show and Sale fall event showcases 8 of Texas’ finest nationally award-winning artists. The gallery is also planning the second “From Above” - A One Man Show for Phil Bob Borman in May. In addition to fine art by renowned artists, Fredericksburg Art Gallery carries a large selection of ready-made frames and the best custom picture framing in the area. Owner, Jim Strickland had many years of experience framing artwork and completed several workshops on state-of-the-art framing technology and techniques. He completed each job with skill and care as if the piece were his own. Jim has now passed the framers’ hat to two very well trained picture framers. Jim is pursuing his passion for restoring antique cars and customizing motorcycles. The gallery has six great employees! Natalie (our niece), and her husband Jason Palmer started working in 2010. Jason is our operational manager and Natalie helps me co-manage the gallery. Natalie is kind, beautiful, and extremely creative and has a great eye for detail. Jason is also an experienced picture framer, bookkeeper, and designs our ads for the art magazines. Al Bein, is a skilled picture framer and photographer. Jessica Chiles works part-time helping Donna finish all her tasks. Jessica is extremely talented in every area she is asked to help with, including photograph. Walt Biddle also works part-time. He is a great photographer, helps to keep the website up to date and is a great writer and marketing expert. Also, working part time is Donnas’ mom, Joye Colley. She moved to Fredericksburg in July 2009 and is thoroughly enjoying working in the gallery part-time. Donna greatly enjoys being with her mom more and getting her perspective on business ideas.

Fredericksburg Art Gallery hosts a large collection of original paintings and bronzes by today’s renowned, award-winning Texas and beyond artists. Our artists specialize in wildlife, western, still life, portraiture and landscape. The gallery also offers a nice variety of styles as well, such as realism, impressionism and some abstract art.

Children are always warmly welcomed at the gallery. Jim and Donna have made a space for the kids to create their own artwork while they visit the gallery. The “Kids Corner” is also a favorite place for many of the local Fredericksburg children. The kids can either leave their original artwork for the gallery to display for a short time or take it home.

Besides the wonderful selection of original paintings and bronzes by Renowned Artists, the gallery also offers Christian gifts, inspirational & encouraging books, fused art glass, rare & gently used art books, picture lights, custom picture framing, ready-made frames, photography, fine art crafts and a well chosen selection of reproductions from our award-winning gallery artists!
